Nestled in the Bay of Peraiola, this 700 meter white sand beach is bordered to the north by the Agriates desert and to the south by Île Rousse, in one of the most beautiful and wildest regions of Northern Corsica .
Behind the beach, there are dunes and a lagoon.
From the car park, you will pass near a river and a green environment to arrive at the beach, with the mountains in the background.
You finally have in a single shot the summary of Corsica, between heavenly beaches and mountains. This journey through the countryside takes about a quarter of an hour and it is advisable to bring shoes, knowing that you sometimes have to ford (without danger!) the small Ostriconi river which flows into the bay. The last meander follows the edges of the pond, with a small bridge which joins the beach.
The beach is supervised during the summer, and you will also see that the wooden lifeguard cabin has a little Californian flavor. You must also be very vigilant on windy days, because the waves can become dangerous and swimming may be regulated. Pets on a leash are tolerated.
Ostriconi, the starting point for the Customs Trail
Heading towards the fabulous Agriates desert, enjoy a unique experience where you can reach small coves of fine sand with turquoise waters, where you can sometimes be alone, like a scent of paradise and the end of the world on these 35 to 40 km of still virgin beaches.
Plan your drinks because the beach is without stands or huts, making it even wilder and more natural.
The most curious will be able to get closer to the Foce pond, made up of the meanders of the Ostriconi and the Vadellare, with the marsh behind the mouth: it is a protected humid biotope, with beautiful rushes.
If you have time, don’t hesitate to admire the sunset and then get closer to the pond: when the wind dies, its surface becomes like a mirror reflecting the glowing hues of a burning sky.
Ostriconi beach is not very busy because it is quite far from the big towns. However, it is easy to access from Ile Rousse. To get there, you have to take the N1197 or the Territorial Route 30, and the beach is then indicated.
The trail leaves from the free parking lot.
