Monte Rotondo is an imposing ridge in the island’s middle ridge and the third peak on the island after Monte Cintu and Capu Ciuntrone. Ferdinand Gregorovius said it in 1852: “the horizon, which we dominate from the Rotondo, is by far more grandiose and more impressive than that of Mont Blanc”. The ascent of Monte Rotondo is a very impressive hike through beautiful landscapes, a real challenge for mountain hikers with a steep climb of 1600 m high. Monte Rotondo can be approached from the north (day hike from the Restonica valley) or from the south (two-day excursion with a stop at the Pietra-Piana refuge)
