This Pauline city is located 70 kilometers from Bastia and 80 kilometers from Ajaccio, at the foot of the Monte Rotondo massif and at the confluence of Tavignano and the beautiful Restonica valley. Corte took off in the 18th century, it was notably chosen by Pascal Paoli to become the capital of Corsica from 1755 to 1769 when the latter became an independent republic.
During your camping trip to Corte, look up and you will see the Citadel of Corte overlooking the town. A citadel on a rock, overlooking the city for several centuries. At night, the multi-colored floodlights make the Citadel a visual landmark that is both romantic and artistic.
