THE RADULE WATERFALL

Radule waterfalls and sheepfolds – Albertacce

The waterfalls and sheepfolds of Radule are located in a magnificent site, in the heart of the Haute-Corse Regional Park, one of the hiking paradises.
On the D84, in Albertacce, the start of the hike is located in a large bend called “the horseshoe”. It takes two hours of walking, round trip (the time is indicative, without breaks). The trail is marked in blue and this easy hike is accessible to a large number of walkers, with a difference in altitude of 160 m. It passes through the Valdu-Niellu forest.

The path will first take you to the sheepfolds and then arrive at the basins and small waterfalls.

This superb walk provides a real breath of fresh air, even in the middle of summer, because a whole part of the path is shaded: always bring a waterproof windbreaker in case the weather changes; but it is not cold, with a south/southeast facing sheepfold.

The path to the sheepfold is well signposted and joins the famous GR 20 after 500 m, following the river. The sheepfold is not always open but you can occasionally refresh yourself there or have some pancakes.

The path continues towards the Radule waterfall, following the river and crossing a small bridge. You will then leave the GR 20 to take the path on the right which leads to the pool and the waterfall. The fall is 25 meters and can be very powerful in spring or early summer, so it is not recommended to go too close while swimming. The flow will be less strong in August, before the stormy periods.

To return to your car, simply follow the path, cross the Golo once again and zigzag uphill through a lush forest.

To reach the Radule waterfall from Corte, you must follow the N193 towards Francardo. You will then head towards Porto via the D84 and following the Golo upstream via the majestic Scala di Santa Regina, passing through the Niolo. Just after Albertacce, you will cross the bridge over the Golo with several natural swimming pools below where it is possible to swim near a pretty, very picturesque little Genoese bridge.

The road climbs with several hairpin bends up to the horseshoe (point 1329 on the IGN map), where you can park.

It takes approximately 46 km from Corte and a 1h10 drive.
